One is double sided, one is not.

All primitives have 1 side. That's the side you see, and the other side doesn't exist, unless you turn off culling. Sometimes when using rects it's usefull to have one that has 2 sides.

You can see it from both sides, and it can get lit from both sides, because there is 2 polygons, one pointing each way.

Hello,

"double sided rectangle" means you can see both front and back faces of that rectangle (so you actually can put textures on these both faces).

And "one sided rectangle" means you only can see one face of that rectangle (so depending of your point of view you wont see it, and of course you are only able to put a texture on the visible face).

OK but:

With deledlite1.4 : create 2 rectangles into top view:
1 with double-side selected and 1 with double-side not selected
You have same rectangle with same face (front view and back view) Sad
In back view, rectangle with double-side not selected must to be transparent Exclamation Exclamation

Is it possible to have 2 different textures on double-side rectangle ???

1. To see the difference, turn culling on (hit F5).

2. Sure, with a double-sided rectangle that is possible:
- Draw 2-sided rectangle
- Select it
- Enter 'polygon mode' (p)
- Select the side you want to assign a new material to
- Click on the material in the material picker to assign it.

You now have a rectangle with a different material on each side. Hope that helps Smile

I created a rectangle with 1 side,
I cannot changed it now to double-side Exclamation

Copy it
Mirror it on the proper axis.
Merge them both into 1 object.

Deleting one side of a double-sided rectangle:

- Select rectangle
- Enter 'polygon mode' (p)
- Select the side you want to delete
- Hit delete. Confirm.
