What else made it easier was the new auto linking Vertice Insert function, that saves a LOT of time.

.... I used a 32bit TGA image. I wont explain here how to make this image transparent ....

I have had a go at this and it worked, so got the basics (useful feature).
I was wondering if/when you will be able to spare the time to explain how you made the image transparent?
I would like to do something similar but for wheel marks.
(I opened the image in paint-shop but can't see any transparency/layer, so a mystery to me).

Sorry, I only use photoshop. But here's a quick explanation:

> Start photoshop and make/open the texture you want
> Add a new channel to the image (Channels tab at the lower right). Do not confuse this with layers.
> Make sure the R, G and B channel are deselected, so you only see alpha.
> Now start painting. What you see will be greyscale where white means "opaque" and black means "transparent".
> Now just save the image as 32bit TGA and you're done. Smile

I'm sure this is possible in paintshop pro. You have to google a tutorial for this.

Good luck!

Oh dear, this has proved too much for my aged version of Paintshop Pro, unfortunatly it only does 24 bit.
The good news is I seem to have managed to do it with Gimp (open source programme).

File > New
Image size: 256 x 256 pixels
Advanced options
Fill with: Transparnecy
click OK
Then put your stuff on top.
Save as a TGA format image

I have tried it and it textured ok, so it worked for me Smile
