Steps to subdivide a face into 2 faces using Spit Edge and Connect Vertice:

- go to Edge mode
- select 2 edges of the face you want to subdivide
- use Split to split each edge into 2 seperate edges (use standard Split property)
- go to Vertice mode
- select the 2 newly created vertices
- use Connect to connect them
