Hello! This is my second model (and it's ANOTHER gun... they seem to be the easiest things to model imo).
Anyway, I still used a bunch of cubes. I know that's a bad thing, but I couldn't get it to look right with the extrude method. So this prolly isn't the best way to make this gun, but it looks good to me. Unlike my XM8 model, this one isn't so flat on the sides. I added some slopes to the top and bottom of the barrel. It makes it look better when you are playing a First Person Shooter. You can use this in a game if you would like.
Also, due to the cylinder bug, I couldn't use a rounded barrel on the front. Sorry about that.
Here's a screenshot:
I also didn't put a texture on it, just basic coloring. I'm not much of a graphics designer when it comes to textures. So If you want to use this in a game, you'd have to texture it yourself. Sorry.
Here's the download link:

Please post comments, but don't be too harsh on me. |

I couldn't download the dmf, but the gun looks pretty good. I can't exactly make out the depth of the model from that screen though, maybe you should give it a quick lightmap or highlight the wireframe so we can see it better. The extrude method is a lot easier once you figure it out (it's not that complicated either ). Try extruding a face on a cube 3 or 4 times and switching to vertex mode to push the verts to the desired location. Even if it looks good, if your shooting for real-time rendering it's best to delete as many hidden polys/verts/etc.. as you can.
And I don't know why you can't use cylinders.. |

Ok, I fixed the link. It didn't have an extension for some reason. I also did that wireframe overlay with the screenshot. Hopefully that works better.
I'm going to practice the extrude method now. When I used it, I didn't quite understand how to extrude becuase I was using the arrow keys, which only made the whole cube wider. But I've just now noticed that I have to use the mouse button.
About the error, It's been metioned a few times in the Bugs forum. I can't place a culinder becuase I get a access violation and a memory leak. |

Good work with the wireframe overlay, the model looks like quality work!

Downloading 1.36 will fix that particular problem, sorry for that! |

Ah, wireframe much better! I downloaded it and had a look. Looks like you created a bunch of cubes and slid them together to make a gun.. Instead of just creating a bunch of cubes you should get into the habit of deleting the hidden polygons that wont be seen when it is used. Just create the cubes you want and when you place them together, highlight the hidden faces and delete them. Good way to check is by placing the camera inside the model, turn culling on [F5], and look for the unwanted polys.. Good job so far! |

Thanks! I know I should be using the extrude command, but I'm still working on a school project in DeleD (i'm designing my shop project with it). As soon as I'm done, I'll start improving this and my XM8 model. |

Might I ask which school you're in? We'd like to know at which schools/universities DeleD is being used at. |

Well, It's not really being used IN our school. I'm just using it becuase I hate drawing my plans out. And since DeleD makes the grids and stuff for me, I just setup the scale and model it out. I'm really the only one in my town that knows anything about technology. The population is about 1000 and it's mostly old people with rotary telephones... so you can imagine what people do when someone mentions "technology". |
