http://g2.3dcentral.net/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=109
These screenshots were taken from the base world I've been building for 3dcentral.net.
It's actually a combination of 2 worlds. The entry area was once Adobe Atmosphere HomeWorld. (remade in DeleD of course) The second is the new homeworld. It is (or will be) an online chat room.
Currently, this is only an offline room with no chat and limited physics. I have almost given up on Newton, and am using Irrlichts own physics to simulate gravity and collision.
My doors and elevator don't work yet. And, there is no chat function.
I have a long way to go, but at least now the basic building is done. The rest is all coding. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Thanks. It has a long way to go before it's finished tho. The building part is done, but the coding part is a nightmare. (at least for me. I'm still learning)
When it's done, I'll post a link for you. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

This world has come a long way since the original post.
2 pages of screenshots here showing it's progress.
It's actually startiing to get fun running around in it.
I'm studying the physics needed to make my doors slide, and my elevator move, plus networking. The building itself is done. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Ok, so the building wasn't done after all.
There were some anoying artifacts that were left behind by an older version of DeleD that left me with a cloths line (well, that's what it looked like) and the lighting and textures just weren't right.
With version 1.36, I was able to remove those artifacts and fix the lighting.
I now have this world looking and feeling the way I want it. (whoda thunk that I would make the elevator too small? )
Final walkthru screenshots are here.
The elevator is working for the most part. It goes down. Sometimes with you, sometimes ahead of you. But it does go down. It also goes up. Always without you. But the coding is getting there. Just a few more bugs to work out of Irrlicht. and it'll be done.
Everything you see was built in DeleD. (well, eccept for the lava, and mirror) All the lighting is also DeleD.
For a program that I looked at, squinted my eyes at and threw onto the back burner, (that was when I first looked at it) I've come to really love DeleD. It's gotten very powerful and robust. (oh, and easier to use now that I've figured most of it out)
Thanks guys. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Wow, great job there, and thanks for the kind words! We just love to see people build models and even worlds with it! |

Well, here it is in all it's umm....well.....errr.....
Well, here's homeworld anyway
The building is almost completely done. (I have plans for the future)
The coding is no where near done, but it works and will give you a better idea of what I'm making.
Just download the zip,
unzip anywhere you want,
open the folder
click on README.txt
Read
Then click on the homeworld icon to play.
Use your mouse to look around and turn,
Arrow keys to move.
Have fun. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Thanks. The voice is my very own. I really need to redo that intro speach tho.

Lol. I made one with hair, but for some odd reason he doesn't show. Now, if I can find 3po, hehehe.
Glad you two liked it.
Oh, the mirror is done using render to texture. _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

not be able to do anthing till i find him now!
I thought you did the voice at the start, did you use
a normal mic? i expected to hear more background noise
(might just be because my mic's are all cheap).

Actually, 3po isn't in there. I haven't found him yet.
When I do tho, I may use him as the avatar.
As for a mic, I use a cheap standalone mic connected to my computer.
I do need to turn the lava sound up a tad. I also need to add the elevator sound. One of these years i'll get it all done. (now, if you believe that, boy do I have some bridges for sale) _________________ Some day I will grow up and be a real modeler.

Finally we get to see your homeworld in action, wahoo! Very very cool stuff! I enjoyed your voice over, and I nearly fell off my chair laughing at my 'mirror image'. Make sure to keep this project going and going, I absolutely love it!

Memo to self: read forum before making the exact same mistake *lol*. I also somehow managed to get stuck in between the pipes and the bridge railing near the 'bubbling lava'. |
