I've had DeleD Lite for about a week now and am loving it. However, I would like to share screenshots of my work, but I don't know how to do renders (if its even possible). Right now I just view my models with solid checked. Is it possible to do renders? |

Right click "in the air" in your perspective view and select "screenshot". It will write a screenshot of your scene with your lightmaps and all. |

Well, DeleD does not have any real rendering capabilities (yet) but you might want to try to use lightmapping (with or without solid colors as materials) or the experimental raytracer. That might help. |

VD is right.
I hadn't understood you properly. If you want to do renders (not lightmapped deled screenshots), then a good option would be exporting to obj and then load your model in wings3d or better yet, in blender. There you can apply materials, place lights and get a raytraced render. You can also get GI iluminated images using yafray.

He said smooth. Deled doesn't do that.
It has no smooth rendering in the editor, and provides for no normal smoothing anyways. That's not really the fault of DeleD, it grew from a level editor. It's somewhere in transition between Level Editor and Static Modeller now.
That's why I said export to Wings3D. http://wings3d.com/ You can smooth out your normals, and have nicer lighting than one light in every direction, which Deled does. _________________

ah! you guys made me want to try it out myself. So here it is; I grabbed deled's chappel model, exported to obj, imported into blender, checked materials and rendered with yafray (very quick yafray settings):
so it works! |

I wanted to render 'royal hall' in blender once, but the program wouldn't let me move the far clipping plane to more than -1000.0f.

hhehehe, try seting it at 500. It's all you need for a deled scene
oh yes! and scale your model down. It opens up huge in blender; dunno, prolly units scale problem. And one more thing, probably due to 3d UCS, you have to rotate your model 90 degrees in a side view to get it to display properly in blender.

To render Royal Hall? no... 500 doesn't cover even half the room. There is no reason to limit the far clip to such a small number like 1000.
Lack of normals in Deled has been bitting me the ass too as of Late.

VD, do you have the model somewhere I can get it? I'd like to give it a try! |

You're a bit confused...
1) The model doesn't open up huge in Blender. a unit is a unit. It opens the same size. The viewport in the program is capped to 1000 for the far plane. This is REALLY low. Longer far planes reduce the precision of the depth buffer, but 1000 is still really low, and incompatible with large spaces.
2) I forget if the renderer was capped at any length, but it didn'tmatter, because I could barely see what I was doing with my model in the viewport, to set up a good render.
3) We hijacked this thread... I apologize. _________________

What if you just downscale the model in Blender?
A-Key --> S-Key --> Scale down --> Render
//edit
I think, DeleD PRO has an option to auto-smooth edges of a certain angle in the lightmapper, doesn't it? _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it
