I have an artifact that i can't get rid of, I molded the fin from 2 ellipses at first, then I retried with a cylinder, they both came out with the same artifacts, the same exact way. Any Ideas?

It looks like you poistioned a bunch of faces together and they are z-fighting and overlapping each other, it's too hard to tell without looking at the model. But from the side view that doesn't seem to be the case.

It could be you've made a funny triangle that had it's normal flipped.

Are you sure the vertices at the end of the fin are welded together? If so, there shoudln't be a polygon between them (it looks if there _is_ a polygon now). Try to select and delete it!

Based on the information in your screenshot, I come to a slightly different conclusion:

Looking at your side view, it is clear the fins are made out of polygons that are not convex. Rendering of non-convex polygons is not well-defined, and (depending on your graphics card/driver combo) might result in visible artifacts.

I don't really see how exactly you modeled those from ellipses, but try triangulating them... it might very well fix any rendering artifacts you might be encountering.

Just my 2 cents. I might just as well be completely wrong. Very Happy

Triangulating the polygons seems to of done the trick... I also welded the vertices, that might've done something... I can't get a pic right now (still at school), but I'll try to get one pretty soon!

Thanks! Very Happy
