Hiding the grid in 3D alone is an extremely useful thing, and it seems like doing just the opposite for objects would also be extremely helpful.
Since you generally only edit objects in the 2D views, you might want all of those unecessary lines to disappear but have the objects still visible in the 3D view so that you can see how what you're editting interacts with everything else.
This would just be a normal extension of the hide/freeze tool, except with the added options of "Hide in all views," "Hide only in 2D views," and perhaps "Hide only in 3D view," if people would also like that.
Also, if this was ever implemented, it would be great if you could still select those objects in the 3D view and have them temporarily reappear in the 2D views for as long as they're selected. Just so you can still edit them quickly without having to completely unhide them each time. _________________
