Well I've been playing around with DeleD Lite, and I like it alot so far. Is DeleD mainly to make structures and levels?
I've only built structures with it yet, like a small castle and a school. I'm not sure how this is supposed to work and stuff. Like how to attach primitive togheter.. like merging(tried the merging tool but it doesn't really fuse them togheter).
I'm wondering how should I start structures? should I make them huge or like really small?
The lights are freaky btw it doesnt look quite right. |

Hi Tristan, and welcome to the forums!
DeleD is indeed mainly used to make structures and levels, although it is quite possible to create organics with it too.
About the scale of structures: it's entirely up to you as you can always scale your entire scene up or down afterwards. Use a scale you feel comfortable with. Attaching primitives together can be done by using Merge or Union. They both create a new object from the selected objects but Union also removes geometry that can't be seen (because it's on the inside of the new object). I recommend using Union. Simply move a primitive partially inside another primitive. Then select both those primitives and press Union. |

yeah, union is what I was looking for because the shadows seem to screw up in my stairs (not sure if ill solve my problem though gonna try)
Where's Union in DeleD Lite?
You know what I love about DeleD it's how easy it is to use. I bet it would be possible to add detail modeling to it, to model anything, it'd the best game modeler around at a very decent price for the average joe ;D
Terrain Modeling -> Structure Modeling <- Object Modeling
Those three go hand in hand... but I guess you can always import stuff from other modelers. But I tried it's a pain
You know what's more pain then that? Loading it in NF engine, because i never know where my model is gonna end up, so I have to spend alot of time looking for it lol. |

It's in the Constructive Solid Geometry panel, right below the Lowpolygon Commands panel.

CSG routines can do that (read the Help). I'd like to fix this problem. Can you send me the DMF file so I can try to reproduce and fix the problem? |

Thanks! I can see that there are a number of coplanar polygons in your scene. The CSG routines sometimes can't handle such polygons very well. To solve this particular problem, either use Merge or make your staircases slightly bigger to the left and right sides (so they stick into the sides) and then use Union again.
I can use this scene when I revisit the CSG code sometime in the future, so thanks again. |
