Hi guys, I've recently been looking at 3D world studio for a project (nice CSG functions, easy view controls, etc) but wasn't too happy with the undo function the program has. To see that fixed, I'll be looking to pay for the next version, which could cost quite a bit.
I've also been looking at Quark, but I'll eventually be going to Blitz3D (perhaps through Ultimate Unwrap and then Giles for lightmapping) so the pipeline is a long and tricky one. I like Quark as an editor, but it's not really built with Blizt3D in mind. However, it's cheap!
Enter DeleD. I love its UV mapping for textures, and it has the CSG functions I love using. The problem is, the view navigation is pretty darn horrible (why does the arrow key/wasd movement jerk?) which is originally why I didn't think it'd be worth considering. However, the price is right, and it's certainly capable... and it can export to Blitz3D too, which is an added extra.
So, before I consider DeleD any further, I'm after a bit of info:
- If I buy 1.6, how soon will it be before I need to pay again to upgrade?
- Does the Blitz3D exporter work fully? There's a thread about it on this forum which makes it sound as though it does some funky level splitting.
- Is DeleD as good as the other two programs I'm looking at, and if so, can you give an example as to why?

Hi there Reactor, and welcome to these forums.
As I'm one of the DeleD developers, I can only answer the first question on your list:
- If you buy 1.6, you will only need to pay for an upgrade when 2.0 arrives. Given the speed in which we increase our version numbers (we're at 1.61 now, with 1.62 coming up within the next 2 months or so), DeleD 2.0 will be out in a few years.
Oh about the jerky movement, that's something we'll be working on in the near future. It's bugging me as well...
