|
|
I noticed that FPSCreator has problems with large .x files. Objects etc. get stuck in the level.
Is it possible to split up the .x file in seperate files so I can build them up in FPSCreator?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Greetz.

I am not too familiar with FPSCreator, but can't you just split up the geometry manually from within DeleD?
How large is a 'large .X file', how many polygons are we talking here? |

I meant the size of the object in FPSCreator not the size of the .X file.
The object is about 76 polygons.
Sorry about the confusion.
I think FPSCreator has problems with rendering .X files directly. Maybe I first must export to DBO format.
Unfortunately there isn't a plugin for it right now.
Is it possible to split up objects? Maybe this solves the problem. |

You mean the "physical" size in units? Strange... Have you tried scaling down when doing the export from DeleD (i.e. set the scale to something like 0.1)? Is this a know issue over at the gamecreator forums?
To split up any geometry, you can
1. Use "Split" from the Constructive Solid Geometry panel (PRO only). Just put a big rectangle through the object where you want to split it, select the object and the rectangle, and hit split.
2. Manually split the geometry. Edge split, edge connect and extract polygon should get you a long way.
About the DBO exporter: I am guessing Ill Buzzo is working hard to get it back online, so that should only be a matter of time... |

Yes I tried scaling. I think it's a known problem at TGC forums.
Thanks for the hint. Spliting (CSG) is working fine. I will try to import in pieces. |
