3 new screenshots - these are of the tower which will be implemented into the castle. They are early development, however.
Tower with no atmosphere or landscape:
This one was to show off the crennelations on top of the tower :

sorry for my absence, computer upgrading to windows XP, lotsa sklwork... arg, so much pressure.
AS exams done, and am now into A2 year. Managed to get 2 B's, a C, a D and a U in maths (but i was never any good at maths anyway... dunno why i did it for A2 really...). Anyway, the original project has been scrapped due to lack of time BUT i hope to be able to start modelling some new buildings/landscapes soon for POSSIBLY a new project... don't hold me to that. Will probably have the same name, so check back here.
Lost vud d'esprit 2 with comp upgrading. I'll try and find another copy, maybe even get a more recent version. BUT this time it'll most likely only be used for landscape modelling, as opposed to structure modelling. Don't hold me to that, though.
I'll give DeleD a huge try for structure modelling. Hope it'll work properly.
I'll just reveal now that it's gonna be a samurai-kinda theme. Expect, well, samurai. And ninja's. Still sticking with RPG genre.
It'll also have slow development, as i have to really study hard this year. Need BBC to get into my first choice university, or BCC to get into my second choice. I'm actually going to be studying marine biology, but whilst i'm there i should be able to find a group of other students to help me out.
Remember, too, that i have NO programming/developing experience of any kind. So bear with me.
Now, in reply to Stefans comment: I was using Vue d'Esprit 2 - when starting a new landscape a dialog box opens with lots of various atmospheric effects - it's seriously well worth a look, they're awesome.
Remember, long absences don't necessarily mean ive given up or forgotten. Just means im having a busy time. _________________ The Phoenix will engulf his enemies in flame. |

hmmm...
well, after having scoured the internet for a couple of hours, I think i'm gonna have to stick with the free copy of Vue d'Esprit 2 from my school library. I was thinking about Vue d'Esprit 5, or Vue 5 Infinite, due to the masses of features available, and the uality of the renders etc. - but they're just waaaay overpriced (like $600 for Infinite). Plus my appalling monitor supports a max resolution of 800x600 (wooo...), which wouldn't satisfy Vue 5. Looks like i need a new monitor. And a lot of money. Gah.
So i should have Vue d'Esprit 2 running tomorrow, hopefully. Then I'll see what i can do about creating a small samurai village. _________________ The Phoenix will engulf his enemies in flame. |

doncha just hate setbacks?
gah... ok, found the disc with the free copy of vue d'esprit 2 on it, installed it, loaded it up, chose an atmosphere... and it quits. gah. stupid non-compatible-with-windows-xp-stuff. Looks like i'm gonna have to buy a more recvent copy, which is gonna set me back a lot. Can anyone recommend any good software for modelling landscapes? _________________ The Phoenix will engulf his enemies in flame. |

yeah, ive just downloaded terragen. And also L3DT, trying to get that to work properly. Hmmm... this may take awhile lol...
Also, managed to get a free copy of Maya 7 - the Personal Learning Edition. It's free for hobbyists & students studying CG, so was applicable to me. Apparantly it's incredibly good, so will give it a try and see how the results come out.
Any other useful development tools out there? (preferably free - student budget)
Am now going to go and draw up some concept sketches. _________________ The Phoenix will engulf his enemies in flame. |
