So just a large heap of screenshots and drawings from my game. I am copying all of my posts from the forums so I apologize for the large quantity of information in this post. I think I got most of em. Tell me what you think:

The Tooniverse

Genre: 3D MMORPG Fantasy/Sci-Fi
Time: Modern Day, Futuristic
Place: Chocolate Milky Way Galaxy will feature Toon Planet on first release with others galaxies & Planets in further expansions.

Promotional Game Idea:

Calling all toons! i repeat, calling all toons! the tooniverse is on it’s way and we need brave heroes, malicious villains and eager players. Hit the streets of toon city, fight off the organizations and mad scientists, hang out with friends, trick out your character and travel to new lands of comical goodness. be strong in your travels, keep your friends close, your enemies closer, become the top toon, but most of all; have fun!

Factions:

Hero-> Heros are the saviors of our world, the protectors of the innocent and spoilers
of evil! Their duty is to stand tall and proud on the most highest peak, keeping a
close eye on all. Come join the Heros and save the Tooniverse from destruction!

Villain-> Villains are the antagonists of the Tooniverse, looking for complete power
over all. Their main duty is to ensure the take over of toon-kind, to dwell and watch
until the perfect moment, then BOOM! Join the villains and reak havoc on ALL!

Races:

Hero-> Dog, Bunny, Teddy, Duck
Villain-> Cat, Elephant, Raccoon, Mouse

Classes:

Hunk-> Classic hero/villain, wears spandex/cape/mask, has large muscles, equivalent of RPG Fighter.

Scientist-> Uses Magical Concoctions to perform feats of power, equivalent of RPG Mage.

Doctor-> Uses healing powers to protect party members and friends, equivalent of RPG Healer/Priest.

Engineer-> Uses gadgets, gizmos, and nick-nacks to create all sorts of inventions and items to use.

Musician-> Plays musical instruments of all sorts to perform buffs and simple spells.

Special Classes: Classes that you can unlock through extensive play and seemingly impossible tasks.

Villain
->Space Pirate- Steal treasure and commandeer ships, fly through the cosmos. Buy a ship from an engineer to fly and loot planets and cities.

->Baron- Use sneak skills, high agility, and invisibility to steal from all and also use very quick duel dagger attacks.


Hero
->Jester- Cast hexes, simple buffs, simple heals and simple spells.

->Dynamiteer- Uses an engineer's dynamite and bombs for pulling and powerful ranged combat.

Available Universes(Servers)

1) Action

Note- No difference between the two, just to split up player activity.

Level of difficulties: A new feature(if possible) where the games monsters are made easier and levels are not as hard to attain. Will be separate clients on different servers.

Easy-> No PVP, monsters 1/2 as difficult, gain 2 times as much XP per monster. Not as fun and achieving but will be the optimal choice for young kids new to the MMO scene.

Normal-> PVP enabled, everything back to normal, great for the returning MMO conquerer

Hard(if necessary to add)-> PVP enabled, everything twice as hard to do, parties are a large part of success in this difficulty, and awesome choice for those veterans of MMOs who are really looking for a challenge and also those looking to rip their hair out when they don't win.

So if you don't understand what I mean, here is an explanation-> Action and Adventure are not actual servers but folders for different servers. If you click on Action it will open up an easy, medium, and hard directory with those three difficulties being the actual servers. If you click on adventure, it will open up a totally different easy, medium, and hard directory with three different servers. So, 6 servers for the whole game.

Skills & Attributes

Skills and Attributes in the Tooniverse will be handled in an entirely new way. You will receive powers in three ways:

1) Stealing a Power from a boss monster-> Yes thats right, you can actually get a power when you defeat a raid boss or end-of-the-line monster. Each person in your party who wins gets a power and gains skill points. It is sort of like zelda when you defeat the dungeon monster and you take a heart container. Say I am an engineer and I defeat a colloso robot, then I will gain the ability to build that colloso robot for my own use.

2) Reaching a certain level and inherit a Power-> Now when we talk over attributes you will understand this more but for right now I will just give you an idea. When you spend enough skill points in a certain attribute and you gain a level, it is very possible that every other level or so you will get a skill pertaining to your class and the attribute it came from. So say I spend 30 SP on my speed attribute and I am a hunk, then it is possible that when I reach level 10 I will get super speed!

3) Find a radioactive liquid in secret areas throughout the world-> In secret parts of the tooniverse, such as dungeons or buildings or under the earth, you may find a special radioactive drink that gives you a special power no matter what class you are in for a determined amount of time or forever depending on that skill. So say I spend a whole week trying to find the secrets to Atlantis and I finally do. The Map tells me to go to a certain cavern with a submarine to take me downward. I hop in and the conductor tells me to drink this drink he gave to me. I take it and down it in one gulp and suddenly I can breathe under water, with no time limit, while I am in Atlantis zones, and I can breathe under water for 10 times longer in zones outside of Atlantis.

Twilight Bluffs! It will always be night time here and the areas inhabitants will reflect this sort of creepy mood. So, everything is textured, about 4000 polys with everything in the seen, just missing water surround the cliffs, a nice twilight sky, grass and flowers, as well as NPCs and monsters.

Notes: There is still one thing I have to texture(that grey box on the balloon dock) and I want to add windows. Also I will add a fireplace next to the wood, a mill(maybe), and a silo as well as some filler objects like chairs and tables and fences.

So without further or due:

-First off I gave the buckets a texture and I added an ink outline filter to the hay to give a bit of a cartoon hint.

-Next I finished the dock area. I made the basket wicker and the balloon cloth mysterious and daunting but happy at the same time. I also made the dock and added some plants around to give a more agricultural feeling.

- Finally, I did the interior but I did not add lightmaps yet so I removed them for the screenshot. You'll see that I made the bed(which looks less blocky when lightmapped), a horse stable, a ladder, and a stack of wood. Next to the wood will be a fireplace, and I will also throw some chairs and table in there for a homey feeling.

1) The abilities selection and viewing menu. Pretty self explanatory, idea was to keep it clean and viewable, but also professional at the same time.

2) The inventory menu will optimize the clean interface like all of the menus and have extra bag slots, the squares on the top right. Each item's name and description will appear in the right box when selected. Money is called cherries in the Tooniverse and will appear in the cherry graphic. On the bottom is the the trade and delete item buttons.

3)The party menu as well uses the roomy design. Each paw represents a player in the party. The buttons on the fingers(?) from left to right are Add Player(Will add the selected character), Boot Player(Removes the player info from that paw), Make Leader(Will make that player the party leader, he will be the only one allowed to boot and add players once he is appointed), and trade(which opens up the trade menu with the play corresponding with that paw). While I am not positive, the center palm of the paw will either have a player portrait or a name and their stats(not definite).

A little map key:

-The circles at the top are portraits for your character. You can only have 5 at a time and when you click on the circle, the corresponding character will appear in the 3D window.

-The plus and minus sign are obvious. Plus being create a new character, minus being delete the selected character.

-The + and - signs next to each stat add skill points that you have achieved during the game. So game mechanics wise, you will never level up in the game. While you will receive benefits for each achievement you attain, the only time you level is when you use a certain amount of skill points on a certain attribute. So say I use 5 SP on health and 10 SP on cooking, I will gain one skill level for maxing-out my health and in turn I will gain 1 Cooking level, expanding the recipes I can learn. The yellow buttons next to each question will bring up a small pop-up window explaining the question.

-The view window with the creation area is where a new character will appear, right in the center of the red liquid. Otherwise they will appear in a standardized scenario such as if they are in the desert, they will appear in a simple desert, if they are in candy land they will appear in a simple candy land room, etc.

-The play button plays the game.

-The back button takes you back to server select.


I did the first 3 steps of character creation. The look simple now do to a lack of art but these are just to throw together the assets we need for programming. Now, to start it off:

Step 1- You choose whether you want to be a hero or villain which decides the look of the next GUI menus, races available, and classes you can choose from. Click on a box and move on...

Step 2- Choose your race: I chose to go through the hero directory getting access to dogs, ducks, teddies, and bunnies. If I chose Villain the green assets would be red and the names would read mouse, cat, elephant, and raccoon.

Step 3- You choose your class, and since the beginning of this game I have decided to standardize the classes to be the same for both hero and villain(hunk, doctor, scientist, engineer, musician) however through extensive game play and solving a large mystery you can unlock up to 4 special classes, 2 being specific to each side.

After this step you go into character customization which I have not thrown together yet. I should have it within the weekend.

Note: Each black circle that looks bland and blank will be filled with an icon of what you are choosing and the black backgrounds will have some sort of color scheme that I have not decided on yet.

Note 2: Also, when your mouse runs over each asset such as dog or doctor, a small description of each will pop-up over it's picture in it's designated box.

Oh, another MMORPG. Good luck on this one. Never heard of a cartoon MMORPG anyway. Which engine are you using?

Very nice.

But you know, Photobucket has a handy button to generate clickable thumbnail code for your images. It would make your post a lot easier to read, and the images easier to see.

Its been a while and I just haven't had the time to keep updating on this forum.

We fixed the flat-file and everything runs flawlessly. It is a little limited as it is an Alpha test but bare with us and just have fun. We had to turn account creation on through the client so don't worry about the quickly placed email and new account slots as they will be removed shortly.

Now I welcome all of you to come and try out the game. We want to weed out every single bug in the game so far, find it, assess it, and fix it. And that is your overall job during this alpha, find and alert us of any bugs and play through most of the first area. We will run periodic updates throughout the week and announce specific tests for certain days but other than that you are free to roam around.

Things that you will not find that will be added after Alpha:

-Collision Boxes: We realize that it is dangerous to fall off of the bluffs and into rivers with the risk of not being able to get out but do not fret, after alpha all of this will be put in.

-All of the Races and classes: Do to the fact that the game is still early in development you can only choose to be a Teddy Hunk. In the final release all of the races that have been talked about will be implemented.

-Lack of Spells: We do not have any spells in this initial release. The fact of the matter is that RC wasn't handling them very well. I wish to implement an entire spell system and this will be discussed at a later date.

We have reached 57 accounts this evening and have really grown and fixed the bugs since the original release of Alpha.

The game looks good - although I tried to play a bit and fell from a risk in just 10' Laughing Now I can only "swim" at nowhere everytime I open my account... Wink

@Tincho- Yeah, thats the risk of the Alpha stage =] If we could make a time for you to sign on myself or another GM would be able to warp you, otherwise you might just want to create a new character since it seems like you didn't get very far =P

Tooniverse Alpha Update 1.4

-> zone names at the top of the screen

-> tooltips on the menu buttons in-game

-> Added triggers around the signs in town to tell you which pathway leads to which zone

I changed all images to URLs in your first post because honestly, I don't want to load 65 images every time I enter this thread.
You may replace some URLs with real images you find important.

I use ImgLikeOpera, which is an extension for Firefox. You can choose a default option like only load the images from the website. If you use Firefox, you might want to check it out. You can quickly block all images, or only load cashed images as options. I recently got broadband, but I still like the plugin for blocking out huge signatures and such. I guess I'm too used to it to go back to wasteful or jerking pages. I hated that on dial-up...
