Anyone else here use the DDS file format? I'm wondering if anyone gets this:
All fugly and whatnot...
I'm wondering if its just me, or deled, or perhaps the specific DDS format (I believe this was DXT1 RGB 4 bpp/no alpha)? Does DeleD prefer a specific flavor?
Same model in the Multiverse model viewer:
Obviously something's wrong with picture 1! |

Ah, looks like a bug! DeleD supports several flavours of DDS, but as the support is manually impelemented (heck, I even had to correct some of the decoding formulae at wikipedia because they were wrong) it could very well be the implementation of some of the subformats is flawed.
Could you send me that DDS? Should be trivial to fix. |

Fixed (fix will be available in 1.. Turns out you were right: I'm pretty sure not too many people use the DXT1 flavour of DDS with DeleD, because there was some remnant test-code in there that changed the color of one in every four pixels, ever since we introduced DDS support. Thanks for the file, made this a breeze to fix! |

Good news, tbh I have no idea really what the "best" flavor is in regards to DDS textures. I just started using DXT1 because it seemed to have the lowest memory usage and I didn't see much of a difference using the others. Probably a good question to ask over at MV eh? |

Yeah, if you can get away with DTX1 (no alpha needed, color loss is not apparent to the human eye) you should definitely go with that... but it would be interesting to hear what the guys over at MV think about DDS usage! |
