Deletion of edges is not supported yet.

Oh ok, well is there another way to get rid of it? some sort of a bypass trick?

If you want to keep the adjestant polygons, you have to flatten both polygons and merge them. Else, just delete both polygons.

Merging polygons often causes weird looking effects although the merged sections should be fine:

How come and how can I avoid it?

That looks like Z fighting. Probably, there are two polygons that overlap. Perhaps, a part of these vertices has already been filled, so you get these two polygons overlap each other. Try to select and delete one of them.
