Currently if you shape and want to select specific polygons on both sides of it you get lost if it's a bit of a complex object because you see all the polygons selected on the other side too...
See thread:

Perhaps there should be a way to have the selected backfaces not visible too.. it's a common option in other tools.
Also, perhaps selection of back faces/verts/edges would also be useful, instead of trying to zoom in and rotate the camera so you could select that small thing you could just toggle that and select it even though it's behind something. |

It's a good suggestion. We will add an option (default ON) to keep rendering of the selection in synch with the rendering of the geometry, as far as backfaces are concerned. (that is: turning culling on/off also turns culling of the selection on/off)
I think the actual selection of backfaces should always synch with the culling setting. If you can see the backfaces, you can select them. If you can't see them, you can't (otherwise you'll find yourself in a situation where a large invisible backface polygon could block all your selection attempts). |

That's a good idea !!
Although I think default should be off.. most if not all of the time I (and folks I know) don't need to see the selected back faces..
It would certainly make things clearer though |
