Prison cell block for the most violent inmate's.

More detail's will be added on the cell door's.
(Anyone know how to do cell door "windows" with lots of circle holes in, is there an easy way,
or do I have to sit and subtract cylinders 1 by 1 in to a plate the size I want the window?)

And maybe something more then a bed and wc will be added in the cell's.
(Will do some investigation of what the inmates on high security state prison have in there cell.)

(If anyone know or have some tips thay are very appreciated.)

There will allso be some other textures on the final project.

You should be able to use a texture with an alpha of holes for windows. That would really reduce the poly count a lot.
The frames for the doors and the rails for the rail post probably should be about twice that thin, to look like a 1x4 instead looking like a 2x4 from here. IMO they would not look as blocky if they were thinner, more natural. Give them a wood texture. I believe the handrails for a prison would be a round metal style instead of wood.

Perhaps use a concrete block texture for the walls with steel floors.

The lights might look better if you made them more of a rectangle base instead of that angled base, like a florescent light. They just don't look natural to me.

Yes to what Coty said. Also, are the black stains on the rails intended? If not, you should avoid Z-Fighting by making the vertical rods thinner for example.

I like your work White Wing, it's simple but looks very good, even without textures Smile

You've made a great start there.
The rails look correct in size for a max security prison. The depth of the scene is too short tho. Most cel blocks are quite long and have cells on both sides. The doorways would eather be wired glass, (that glass that looks like it has chicken wire embedded in it) and a meta door with a window, or Just round bars close together.
The walls and floors would be plain cement, and the rails and bars would be metal (silver) colored.
Looks great tho.

looks like trucker knows quite alot of prisons, maybe some reallife experience Razz ?

I only like the geometry of the scene, but try to use some texture and not colors Smile

I will try smaller rail, not sure it will look very good tho but I'll give it a try Smile
The doors I think I will keep the size thay are now ( but I half the width of the 2 center rails )

The black stains was intended, I will remove them, look like shit Laughing

Thanks trucker!
Yes the cell block will have more depth to it. ( I just need to find a image or video of how it should look from the other side Smile )
This cell blocks do look like this with cell's on only 1 side, as u can see on the screen shots above.
Thay are from the cell block called "The Shoe" at Pelican Bay State Prison.

Whitewing, it's great. But I think you should keep working on it to refine it. Make it look more and more like the reference photos. Don't worry about texture.s You can just use color materials for now. Work on the shapes.

Rotating your cubes so that they look diamond shaped instead of squares is a trick that is used to make bars and railings look more round while still only being cubes.

Yep, and if you set the vertex colors on the right corners to a dark color, you can fake an even rounder look.

There is no reason to subtract that many cylinders from that sheet to try and make those parts of the door. 1 tiny part of your level shouldn't have thousands of time the polygons than the rest of your level, and you are going to get very ugly geometry like that anyways. Even the best CSG tools don't hold up well to doing hundreds of operations on an object like that.

Use a texture with an alpha channel in it. I'll make one for you and post it.

Here is a metal hole texture. It contains an alpha channel that has one hole right in the center. You can use 'fit texture to face' and then scale the U and V however many times you want to get the exact number of holes. (200 would give you 2 holes.. etc..)

Use a rectangle for this with 2 sides, and use the same trick on both sides.

Thx for the tip trucker!
The cell doors will look really cool with the cylinder shaped bars.

Not the round holes I wanted from the start but this will be nice too. Very Happy
