I would like an easy way to align uv faces together in the 3d editor, or the uv editor. One of the problems I am encountering is an easy way to align up the uv's, or edges of faces in the uv editor, so that I can make the seems of textures align up perfectly. In the uv editor I can select the vertices of an edge or face and pull them really close to the edge of another face, but I have a hard time trying to make them seamless (perfect). Perhaps there is an easy way already, but I haven't found it. Suggestions?
Let's say I have a wall which has holes for doors and windows to fit in. I want to align all the textures to match the wall I've already aligned. In this video I have aligned the texture on the wall to the right of this building. I want to align all the siding to match this wall. I select the uv face on the aligned wall to the right, then I select all the other faces I want aligned to that wall and by right clicking and selecting "reset texture coords," I can align all the other faces to the first face. Here is the 200k example:

If there already an easy way to align textures similar to this one, I apologize, please let me know.
Thanks |

maybe select the 2 vertices you want to bring together and press "average" ?
hope that's what you mean. _________________ Chickens RULE | www.elementrix.nl |

I love how you posted a video to clarify what you are doing! Unfortunately, I can't really watch the video as it is all warped and skewed, do I need a particular codec to see it?
Like Elementrix suggests, to trick to getting aligned textures is to perfectly align the individual UV coordinates. When both faces have the same textures, just align them visually, then select both coordinates and hit "average". When both faces have different textures... I don't really know how to align them. Some sort of snapping help, but then both textures would themselves also have to be aligned with the snapping grid, which I can't really picture. |

I didn't get it to play with VLC player either, but it worked with the WMP then. _________________ Behold! The DeleD Wiki! Please help us expanding it

It plays with Windows Media Player Classic and WMP 9 which I have. I made it with windows media encoder 9. I hope you are able to see it because it shows what is probably confusing with words.
I guess I'm just looking for an easy way to line up poly uv edges. To me, the uv editor is very confusing about witch edges belong together. When I select an edge or vertex in the 3d window, it would be nice if they would stay selected when I switched to the uv editor so I could tell which vertices (edges) belong together. Anyway, I just don't see any way to align faces (edges) together perfectly in the uv editor.
I know I'm not making much sense, unless you could see the video.
Thanks |

An edge has 2 vertices right? just average the 2 (in total 4) vertices, and you have a perfectly aligned edge.
Did you watch my UV-mapping tutorial?

I also think it would be nice if the vertices you select in the UV-editor also pop-up in the other views, but for now you can select the face's to see on which you are working. _________________ Chickens RULE | www.elementrix.nl |

I really need to use this program more... I find something new every time!
Thanks, I think I got the hang of it now. |
