Is anyone here doing Flash development? I would be very interested in getting a nice art pipeline up and running from DeleD to PaperVision 3D, including (but not limited to) an easy-to-setup DeleD scene viewer in Flash.
I can (and will) certainly whip up a nice DeleD exporter to whatever format we decide on, but I'd rather have the Flash side of things handled by someone a bit more experienced (or willing to invest the time to figure it out).
Sounds interesting? Post below, or drop me (paul [at] delgine [dot] com) a line. Suggestions are also welcome, of course.
Notes
- Don't know Papervision 3D? Check it out here, including the default example here. It's basically an awesome 3D flash engine. Or course, the polygon count is limited, but the experience it offers is still very cool.
- I am not necesarily looking for experienced flash (/flex/haxe/etc) developer, someone who is willing to put in the time to figure this stuff out is also very welcome.
- From a first look at the documentation, Papervision seems to support Collada. To me, this seems to be the worst possible choice if you want to write lightweight online 3D applications, with all the added bloat of the format(*). I think I'd strongly prefer a simple (trivial) binary format. But then again, I'd totally follow the advise of the Flash coder in this.
(*) Don't get me wrong, Collada is great for the exchanging information in between different graphics applications, but that's a wholly different purpose. |
