These three programs, all free, are what I am looking into right now. Going to dive in and start learning some or all of them. Here are the links:
Wings 3D:

Hexagon (free for a limited time):
http://www.daz3d.com/products/hexagon/hexagon-what-is-hexagon
DeleD:
Do I really need to give you a link? You do know where you are don't you?
In addition there are a few I have put on the backburner. K-3D, TrueSpace and Sculptris are among those.
So anyone here use Wings 3D or Hexagon? How do you like or dislike it compared to DeleD? Why? I know in Hexagon you have the awesome connect tool. Wings 3D has something similar with vertices. But both are box modelers, as is, I assume, DeleD. No real support for spline modeling around here. Or am I wrong about that?
Not mentioning Blender. Blender does not exist in my reality. I am ignoring it completely. Takes me 2 hours to do something in that program that I can do in 5 minutes with Max, and probably less with these other three modelers. In invested in hours and hours of training with it. I wil never touch it again unless someone modifies it so that its easier to use. So Blender fans please don't bring up this program!
Looking forward to see what folks have to say!
