This never worked for me, why is that? I select some vertices and click it, then F11, nothing. F10, snapping the entire scene works but it's really a pain to cut out everything you don't want to snap, snap the entire scene, paste in the cut out geometry.

Take a look at the Object Inspector to see the properties of your object. You probably have the Snap Method set to None or Center. If you set it to Vertex, using F11 should work like a charm. Let us know if this helps!

Hmm... I don't think there is a point in using F11 if it only works on objects with snapping method set to vertex. These objects will be snapped automatcly after every move/rotate.. whatever, and thus pressing F11 will make no sense. F11 would be way more usefull if it worked on any object with any snapping method.

Let's say I need to snap a few vertices that are part of an object. Then, I need to change the snapping method to Vertex, Snap my selection using F11 and change the snapping mode back to none. It would be much better if just pressing F11 does the job. Smile

Maybe a nice suggestion for DeleD 2.2 eh? Razz I can post this again in the testers-forum if you like.

Well, you can actually set the SnapMethod to Vertex and turn automatic snapping off by doubleclicking the SNAP button in the statusbar. Using F11 will work in that case. This means you can snap your selection at any time while the object won't snap when performing other actions (like move, rotate etc) on it.

However, I can certainly understand your suggestion. How do other users feel about this?

Just to summarize: I think the snapping functionality is a bit vague. We have SNAP in the statusbar, Snap as a tool, and the snapping method for each object. It is very unclear how all these things work in relation to eachother. I just think this needs to be cleaned up. Smile

@Chronoz: Agreed. Multiple people have been asking questions about this one. If you have a good suggestion, do post in the testers forum for further discussion. (results will be posted here too, of course)

If anyone else has another idea of how Snap should work, do tell too! Smile

At first I thought it'd work as chronozphere described. It'd seem natural that "snap selection" would work regardless of the objects snapping type, or whatever you'd like to call it. Also, I thought "snap to center" would only snap the center "point" of the object to the snap, and not vertices. That'd be nice.
