|
|
Hi, I'm new here and I'm actually trying build me an opinion to make my decision if I should buy DeleD or not. I'm using Dark Basic Pro with nearly all enhancement packs that are available. For map-building, positioning of objects, and so on ... I'm planning to use DeleD as it fits all my needs in building, creation and positioning.
But now the big question: How does the typical process of bringing a DeleD-built map/world in my Darkbasic project (being able to access objects (by name) from my source codes) look like?
Cheers,
chrisu |

Hi chrisu,
if it helps your decision, there is a DeleD Dark Basic Pro exporter plugin that allows you to export DeleD scenes as Dark Basic Pro objects:
http://www.delgine.com/plugins/viewPlugin.php?catid=40&catdesc=Exporters&contentid=29
I haven't used it myself, but it sounds just like you want
Why don't you try downloading the DeleD LITE version and try the plugin to see if it fits your needs?
cheers,

To be honest, I'm comparing miscellaneous world editors now since weeks and now I'm really through ... But, and I know the exporter for DBO-objects, when I have a big DBO-object of the scene I'm building/I built, how can I "address" the specific parts of the world, especially individual entities just for placement or imported and placed models, with which I want to interact later? |

Fair enough...unfortunately I think someone else familiar with DB objects should answer that question, I'm only familiar with mostly ms3d, and some obj file formats.
I don't know if DB Pro can access user defined tags from DeleD exported objects, or even if these are exported at the time?
If they are, perhaps you can use these to help with individual placement and interacting, etc.
Sorry if I'm not understanding you correctly
cheers,

No prob! You understood exactly what I wanted to "transfer". Btw., I might also do an export- or convert-tool which generates readily usable Darkbasic code (like a LoadProcedure which has comfort of having directly assigned variable-names), but for the moment I'm just thinking of it - because actually I have a very high priority project running leaving just a bit of time for playarounds.
Anyway, if anyone has some experience in having DeleD and Darkbasic Pro in the production pipeline - plz. share them with me.
Cheers,
chrisu. |
