Even though DeleD is going Open Source, competitions and other community-related things should still be happening, right? We think so! Smile Therefor, without further delay, we present to you:

DeleD Winter Compo 2009

This is your chance to show your quality! Cool

The Compo
- Theme: winter-in-the-city/town/village/backyard.
- Environment: Pick 1 out of: big modern city, medieval town, very small village.
- Needs: You definitely need to put in lots of snow!
- Props: Pick any 3 out of: star, garden, oil lamp, sheep, big red balloon, water well, x-mas presents, crumbling wall, fire place, x-mas tree, snow sled, snowy hill, fireworks.

So, create one or more buildings in a specific style (modern or medieval) and spice them up with wintery decorations. Doesn't even have to be x-mas, just as long as it's a winter-scene.

The obligatory props don't need to prominently featured at all, as long as they are visible. All sorts of twisted combinations, additional elements, open-minded interpretations etc. are allowed. Get creative people! Very Happy

The rules
1. You need to be a member of the forum to join the competition. If you want to register an account just to show your competition entry, that's fine, but please introduce yourself here too.
2. The compo will run from December 17th to midnight, December 31st, Amsterdam time (GMT+1). If people need more time, the end-date can be changed.
3. All entries should be made in DeleD, without any postprocessing. Both LITE and PRO will be accepted (but will be judged by the same standards, so PRO entries have an advantage).
4. For the winning entries (and possibly others as well), we will request the .DXS file used to create the scene. Failing to hand over the .DXS will result in disqualification of the entry.
5. The winners are picked by Jeroen and Paul-Jan.
6. Delgine reserves the right to use all images uploaded for promotional purposes.
7. Post any questions/remarks you might have about this competition on the forum. Right here in this thread will do fine.

The Rewards
- Having a fun time.
- Eternal fame and glory! Smile

Entering
You can enter the competition by showing your entry in this thread. Note: all entries will be put in the gallery too after the compo is done.

Voting
Jeroen and Paul-Jan will judge the entries. The winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) will be announced in the first week of 2010.

Requests
1. Tell your friends!
2. If you would like to sponsor this contest by donating prizes, please contact us a.s.a.p. !

Can I use another application (Ultimate Unwrap 3D) or do I have to use Deled for unwrapping?

Stated in the post "All entries should be made in DeleD, without any postprocessing. Both LITE and PRO will be accepted (but will be judged by the same standards, so PRO entries have an advantage)"

So I guess its a no, wouldn't be a true Deled contest that way too

Btw: I'm in already got my concept layed out Smile

I chose a big city scene with a twist. There is an abandoned office building that has a homeless person living in it. He has found a nice tree that someone threw out and some decorations. He's also used money donated to him to buy gifts for some of his friends. There is a star, shining it's light down upon the shelter. I added the deled sign to this building to signify it's change to opensource. (the office is no longer needed)

The main screenshot:

The dps file is Here.

Done. Smile

I chose for the village, a small road with just 2 houses on his path. Old and alone with christmas was something i liked to show.
Also just like trucker2000, i added the DeleD Opensource sign.

A few screenshots:

So what's up people! Do you guys need some more time or do we only have 2 entries this time? Question It sure is winter down here in the Netherlands (or at least, up north where I live) so we can absolutely extend the compo's timeframe. Smile
