I just had an idea, that maybe easy to implement but useful:
Up to now i have made alot models, often in different state of completion. So i have to open many scenes to find the correct version.
A preview-window in the opfen-file-dialog like the prefab-preview could help saving time! Something like this:
Is this possible ? |

It's a nice suggestion!
Not very easy, but doable. We would need to make a new "Open scene" dialog containing a small DXS loader + renderer. |

I found using naming to be a good thing at the time, but unless the name is a full description, memories fade LOL.
I use a lot of nested folders. Windows is nested with Wooden, Stone, Brick etc etc.. then in say Wooden, I put Box sashes, Storm, Casement, Bars, Without Bars etc etc.. at least then I navigate to what I want, spent less time openning files.
However, I do love the idea of a viewer _________________ Politeness is priceless when received, cost nothing to own or give, yet some cannot afford.

Opening a .dxs file can take a lot of time as they get big, so the loading would definitely have to be handled in a background thread.
No problem, just a thought. |

mudbox already does this, but it somehow automatically makes a little picture of your model, and when you click the model that picture that correspondents shows up. would be less intensive then loading the actual model. _________________ Chickens RULE | www.elementrix.nl |

I'd imagine that probably would be done when the file's saved, and its embedded with it (or cached somewhere in the app directory). Probably would be a better solution, performance wise. |

It could also be done on load time and cached within the folder in a hidden file. That's what windows explorer does when viewing thumbs. |
