That is a great method and one I've been wondering about, as I wanted to form Stone Arches over door and window openning, now I know Smile

You can do it even faster.

- create the cylinder
- delete half the vertices
- delete the top and bottom polygons
- select all the remaining polygons
- extrude them by region and have Keep Original Polygons and Flip Original Polygons checked

That's it. Give it a try! Smile

Yes, that worked as well, albeit I had to flip all the polygons as it was inside out, no big deal, click of a button. Very Happy

I don't know if anyone else gets the error when selecting the 2 disc faces and deleting them? I click ok once, then simply close the error window with the X top right corner, the 'error' goes away and I can continue.

The way I'd do it:
Create cylinder, select upper and bottom face
Inset both faces and Connect them (result is a ring)
Now delete all the unwanted segments and fill both remaining endings

Just sayin'

OK, Mr. Fletcher, your way is much more elegant - and faster.
I never used the "connect"-funktion. Now i will.
But i hope to have demonstrated how flexible a filled irregular polygon can be used.

Oooh, this could be used to make a stone bridge in a mediaeval setting.
