Why a tutorial about the palmtree?
It's easy, when you know cgtextures.com.
The model was easy too: A cylinder for the stem, and this simple
gullwing-4-sector thing decorated with an alpha-map.




The water was more trickier: consists of a semi-transparent surface
and a painted ground from yellow to dark-blue.
I am sure, extending the sand-texture (fading off) will make it more realistic,
but i have done the transition between grass and sand with a special texture,
aligning every poly by hand. This would be needed for the smooth transition "under water" too - another hard work for the texturer.
I will test this on the next picture, if this is a useful way to achieve this effect.
