As a step aside i post this here, even it is caused by searching for very special textures for my Anubis,
as seen in http://www.delgine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4200.
I really wanted a photo-based texture of this golden armour. Then i remembered my experience with good old Corel Dream3D-7.
With this i made a lot of things, and i have it still on my newest PC. So i started to make my texture using Dream3D.

First the construction of 1 golden scale:

What's the best, this Raytracer can make metallic-look!
Now duplicate it several times:

Putting on some lights, i get this:

What follows was to make a texture from a "photo". Make it tileable,
is as often a tidy job, but necessarily. Out came a small 256-texture:

I show this to remember you to sometimes "think-around-the-edge",
to achieve a result which you have clearly before your eyes.
On the other hand: if i will solve all upcoming texture-problems this way, it will take a lifetime.

Not only useful for textures you don't get otherwise, i found it useful
to create billboard-bitmaps for the vegetation:

and more needed for the citizens of Meynheim:

So if you are in the need of a special texture, this way can solve, ask me!
