I've just changed my Broadband service provider from BT to TalkTalk (formerly Tiscali). I have been with BT for some years and enjoyed a constant 8mbps connection.
Whilst I have noticed a small increase in the download speed, what is significant is the upload speed. With BT I was stuck between 123-225kbps, but now enjoying an average of over 756kbps. I saw the test result peak at nearly 3mbps.
Most users only look at the size of the download speed with most providers, and they won't tell you what their upload speeds are, as they are little more than a dribble compared to our European cousins. What will be the greatest difference to me will be when I'm uploading my work, movies, pictures, models etc to my online servers
As a side issue, a door to door salesman came to me a couple of weeks ago and tried to sell me a 24 mega byte connection for just £20 a month. I told him I'd have the deal, provided they actually could provide me with 24 MEGA BYTE. I pointed out, he should not be selling Bytes, when he should be selling Bits _________________ Politeness is priceless when received, cost nothing to own or give, yet some cannot afford.
