Hello,

Not sure why this is happening, but since my most recent install of Deled3D, it's been pretty much unusable. This is unfortunate, considering I now have a working Torque exporter to use with it.

The best I can explain it is, I create an object (a cube), I select a face and, when I try to move the face (using the gizmo), it basically "freaks out".. it shoots up, then down... then up... then down.. very quickly. Sometimes, it won't move at all, then it'll do the shooting up/down thing again suddenly. It's impossible for me to maintain control over it. Same thing happens with vertices and edges.

Trying to edit from the side views seems better, but it's also harder to maintain control over objects, restricting them to a single axis, as you can using the 3D gizmo.

I'm also finding movement inside the view ports to be very slow and inconsistent, especially the 2D viewports, which barely budge at all when I try to move them around.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Deled3D, but it's still happening. This is the first time I've had this happen to me with this program.

So this didn't happen before but now is happening with your latest install? That's weird! Shocked

What happens when you try DeleD on another machine? Can you try?

I suspect it possibly has to do with either:
Mouse driver (although unlikely), try cleaning the laser lens.
Graphics Card Driver - Update
Resolution - try zooming out a bit more when editing, sometimes, depending on the angle you are viewing the object at, as to which axis you are trying to move.
Full Window Editing - try enlarging the editing window using the Maximise button top right of the window. This gives more pixel resolution for the programme to work with.

Hi there Smile

So, I've been away a while, but decided to come back and give Deled another go. I remembered having posted this thread, so I decided to revisit it with an update.

The issue with transforming faces/objects I had when I last posted seems to be gone.

However, it seems to have been replaced with a new problem.. I can't effectively move the 2D viewports around. I hold the right mouse button down and drag and the windows basically kinda "stutter" around a bit. Sometimes they move over a few grid squares' worth, sometimes they jump farther... sometimes it hardly moves at all. It's very sporadic. After a short time, however, the viewports stop moving altogether.

Occasionally, even after holding the right mouse button down and attempting to drag, when I release the button it opens the right-click menu. So it's as though it didn't even register that I was trying to move the viewports at all.

Now, this only happens with the 2D viewports. The 3D port works beautifully, "like silk". No problems at all.

It's only the 2D ports giving me this issue.

The mouse is "clean", drivers are up to date, etc.

Any idea what might be causing this weirdness now?

Thanks!

If you mean 'move the viewport window', then you do this when holding down the Left mouse button, not the right, hence why you are getting a context menu opening. This is a standard Windows system feature, and nothing to do with how DeleD operates.

I'm assuming you want to move the content (grid and models etc) of the viewport, right? It's pretty weird that doesn't seem to work properly on your machine. Haven't heard of that particular problem before.

What happens if you try that on another machine?

Hello,

Thank you for the replies.

Yes, I'm attempting to move the actual scene inside the 2D viewports, not the viewport windows themselves.

I did install Deled on a laptop (older Lenovo T400) and the viewports are smooth as silk.

So now I have to figure out what's making them so weird on this PC. It's so odd. They'll move a little bit, with a lot of stuttering. Then they just stop responding altogether, and if I try right-clicking to move them again, it brings up the context-menu.

3D Window is smooth as silk

Wonder if it's a video card setting. I'll go tinker around and see if I can figure it out.

Found the culprit...

Having Vertical Sync enabled in my NVidia settings was causing it.

How weird is that? lol

Not sure if you'd want to qualify that as a 'bug' or not, but it's certainly an odd behavior. At least there's a known work-around for it in this case, though.

Anyway.. Back on track!

In case you'd like to check into it or what not, I'm running on a NVidia GeForce GTX 560Ti. The driver version is 9.18.13.3523. They're NVidia's own drivers.

Good to hear you're back on track! Smile That particular NVidia setting is a weird one... haven't heard about that one before. Razz I'll consider it a minor issue as it's a rare one, I'm glad.

Might I ask what you're working on with DeleD? I'm always interested in projects where DeleD is involved. If you feel like sharing your work, feel free to create another topic for it. Smile

Hey there...

Yeah, that's the first time I've ever had vertical sync be the cause of an issue. I've had anti-aliasing mess with things before, but never Vsync.

Anyhow..

As for what I'm using it for...

Well, at the moment, I'm still learning it. It's pretty different from what I'm used to using, and some of the methods of doing things will take getting used to and such. There's quirks and such that I'm still scratching my head about - which all programs have when you're still learning them, but time and experience will take care of that.

As a long-term goal, I guess you could say I intend to make it another tool in the toolbox. My main modeling program is Blender. The thing is, though, Blender is just "too much" for my purposes sometimes. There's so much interface to navigate through that has absolutely nothing to do with my needs and it just gets in the way.

I like to have something a bit more focused on a specific task. My main tool for a while now is Blender, but for a number of things, it's "too much program". There's stuff in that software that I never use and likely never will, and it really just causes clutter. I like having a tool more specifically suited to a particular job.

I've heard that Deled has really good export capabilities, and is well suited to BSP style modeling, even if you're not strictly working on BSP environments. I was going to work with TGEA, and still might in some capacity. However, I'm trying to move more toward Torque3D, as it simply is a newer engine, it's an active one, and it has a lot more support. TGEA is in a kind of Lich state - neither dead nor alive - which is unfortunate.. I think there's a lot of life still in that engine, and you can do some really great stuff with it. Unfortunately, GG lost the rights to promote/support it, so.. That's that.

As for sharing my work.. sure! Soon as I start producing things that I intend to use or that I'm otherwise happy with, I'll be sure to post some shots here.
