I got trouble to get this features to work in Light version.
It seen it only show some images of the standard textures, I can pick up (floor01 is examples not displayed). Is this a restrictions to Light versionen heree?
A another problem i have created 512 color images from Blitz Basic, but they would not show up in Material Picker. I have used 2x2 pixels and in 24 bit (and I have tried 16 bit as well). These images was created using Blitz Basic.
The problem colors can been dowloaded from http://www.playitgame.org/test/Colors.zip
I'm are going to make a untitled oldschool racing game, based on solid object with no textrues (but just maked the color textures) with a friend (that may bying the PRO version). We have choosed this as a 3d editor, that works great with this project |

Hi there, and welcome to these forums
First of all, you have to understand the difference between materials in your current project and textures on your disk. When you create a new scene, DeleD adds a bunch of standard materials to that project. This a completely arbitrary subset of the texture on disk: we just hand-picked some we liked.
Now, with the material editor you can remove materials from that set, and create new ones from textures on your disk (or from colors). Fire up the Material Editor. On the top right you see the materials currently in your scene. On the bottom right you see the textures on your harddisk, in the DeleD texture directory.
To add a new texture to your scene, you copy it into a subfolder of the DeleD texture directory using Windows Explorer (or whatever you like to use for copying files ), open your scene in DeleD, open the material editor, create a new material in the category of your choice, select the texture subfolder where you stored the texture, and drag it onto the layer. Or, you can simply drag textures from the bottom to the top pane to instantly create a new material using that texture.
For example, I unzipped your colors.zip to [DeleD install dir]\Textures\Colors. This is what the material editor looks like:
I now created a new category, called colors, and dragged some textures into it to conveniently create new materials:
And this is how it looks in the material picker:
I hope that explains things a bit. |

However, why would you want to use textures for colors, when DeleD has built-in support for color material layers? In the material editor, simply set a layer to color in stead of texture, and click on the (now black) color preview. A color picker will appear, allowing you to set the material layer to any color you like. |

This is just because I would restrick the color palette, because the game mature. The graphics should look like a Amiga game, and we have just begun that game. (I post that in the User Game Projects soon, when we have some thing to work).
Otherwice thanks for the help .
The icons on a top is a bit unclear, and is hard to see, what they does I have tried to find that editor on the top menu, and not on the top bar.... I would really like, if you added that to the topmenu as well.
Please move this thread to the DeleD forum, because this is not a bug. |

*hehehe* Yeah, we pretty much got that
About the colors: I see your point, and I like the idea!
About the menu entries: you are right about the icons being not very distinct, I'll add your request to our todo-list.
About moving the thread: excellent idea, will do |
