Hiya - I've been trying out Deled and it looks really nice, but I've got one recurring problem: whenever I try to generate lightmaps I get a "Stream read error", and I then have to close the program. I've managed to track down the fact that this only happens when I'm using a file I've imported (obj, 3ds) which I've made myself - it's fine when I use the prefab ones that came in the download with Deled, even though they're the same format. I'm currently just using Deled lite - what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Cheers

Thanks for reporting this, I don't think I have heared of this problem before!

Could you try, after importing the files, FIRST saving them to a .DMF file somewhere, THEN running the lightmapper? Also, do you have plenty of disk space available? Where are you importing those objects from, a different drive perhaps?

Other then that, I am a bit clueless. I'll try and see if I can reproduce things by importing objects from strange places and playing around with file attributes.

Hi there Boris, and welcome! Smile I've loaded your file without problems. I noticed the materials refer to BMP files while DeleD comes with JPG files. So I changed that and the level loaded perfectly. Lightmapping also worked without problems.

What exactly is the problem you have?

yeah the bmps is cos my code doesn;t load jpgs. i didn't even think of that, let me do a quick check.

Embarassed sorry Sad that was the problem. but i have all the textures converted to bitmaps where the originals are. in the deled folders. so why would that cause the error?

Yep, that was this project. It's a weird problem because some people suffer from it while others don't. Might have something to do with the version of Photoshop you're using. Anyway, opening and saving them with Paint should solve that problem. Smile Let me know!

PLEASE, please, pretty please send some of those erroneous files to paul [...a...t] delgine [...dot...] com. If there is really a problem with DeleD not loading some .BMP files, I'd like to fix it! Very Happy

email sent.

i find this wierd, if i convert straight from paint, my program can't read it, yet if i modify one pixel in paint, my program can, i have run into this problem before with paint and i can read straight from ps bitmaps. yet your project seems to be the opposite. wierd indeed.

Thanks a heap for the files, wood02.bmp indeed suffered from the 'photoshop bug'. We changed the texture preview code from Delphi's native BMP loading code to our own, and it now works like a charm. This bug will be fixed as of version 1.3 (soon to come). Very Happy
