Hi, I was looking at a "Simple window(or door) tutorials" but I didnt get how to do it. I mean, I couldn't get it to look like thes [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/granada/window006.png]. I can do something kinda like it, but it doesnt show a inside. Like there is just the face but no back or inside, and it looks flat on a thick wall. I am new to this program^^;[/img] |

Here you go
Did you remember to delete the face you extruded, also the other face on the other side.
Dont worry to much as you will find this eisier when CSG comes out in the next version
of DeLeD.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think you're not using the Extrude function here.
First use Inset to create extra polygons in the front- and backsides of your wall-cube. The use Extrude to extrude 1 of those extra polygons and move it towards the other extra polygon. Then delete those new polygons to create the actual gap.
So, first Inset, then Extrude, then Delete.
Hope this helps! |

<--HOTSHOT (The word 'styles' got chopped off in the last picture... "MANY STYLES OF WINDOWS")
I could write a few more of those if we could submit some tutorials. Cleaner HTML pages would help. I could do the texturing trick, which I'm sure would help many. |

Good work Vampyre - it's good to see people creating tutorials. We'll be working on implementing a good tutorial section on the site after we release 1.3 so you'll hear from us then again.
Btw, creating windows and doors will be made a LOT easier when 1.3 comes out - simply use CSG subtraction to achieve the same effect in seconds. PRO only though. |

It's still good to know little tricks like the above. It helps you understand how things work, and those tricks help when you are building other complicated things. But with my luck, ADR will never come to this thread again after that last post, and I did that all for nothing! |

Well, we'll probably move it into to tutorial section of the forum, so people can use it as a reference. And after a while we will comb through the tutorial section of the forum (as well as other sections) and formalize the information found into more structured documentation. In my opinion, your efforts definitely are not in vain! |

I don't want to have to host those pictures forever. lol
The freebie image hosting places have bandwidth and storage limits. Otherwise I could write a few of them. |

No worries Vampyre, we'll be hosting those pictures ourselfs by then. Just keep them around long enough for us to set things up. |
